Ceit-IK4 Technology Center – Spain

Description

Ceit-IK4 is a private multidisciplinary non-profit RTO closely connected to TECNUN, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Navarra (Spain). Its mission is to provide the industry with services through the development of technical research projects and to form young researchers and PhD students. Ceit-IK4 has a staff of 249 employees and 51 PhD students and an annual budget over 15,3 M€. Ceit-IK4 consists of three vertical divisions (Materials and Manufacturing, Transport and Energy, Water and Health) and a fourth additional horizontal division (ICT). In this project, the ICT division will be involved.

Regarding Ceit-IK4’s experience in European Projects, it has been involved in 15 FP6 projects (having the role of coordinator in 2 of them) and has also participated in 32 FP7 projects (having the role of a coordinator in 10 of them). Apart from the Framework Programme’s calls, Ceit-IK4 also coordinates one CIP EcoInnovation project and has also participated in 13 Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) projects having the role of coordinator in 2 of them. Besides, at the moment Ceit-IK4 is involved in 10 H2020 projects and 1 LIFE project.

The ICT division of CEIT has a wide experience in wireless communication systems. In previous projects, CEIT has been involved in tasks related to architecture analysis, to design and implementation of digital modems, to design and implementation of analogue front-end ICs and to integration for ultra-wide band and mmW. CEIT has already designed circuits for mmW application using the 55nm BiCMOS technology of ST.

Main Tasks in the Project

In the project, CEIT will collaborate in the system specification and in the architecture definition within WP1. CEIT will participate in WP2 designing the phase shifters for the beam steering phase array antenna. CEIT will lead the task related to design a control block for antenna array in WP3. Moreover, CEIT will be responsible for the integration of the transceiver circuits designed within WP2. CEIT will provide technical support during the integration and system validation in WP4.
